A Sikh Face in Ireland

We recently designed exhibition graphics and collateral for 'A Sikh Face In Ireland', a photographic exhibition produced by FOMACS in collaboration with photographer/oral historian, Dr Glenn Jordan, and researcher, Satwinder Singh.
The exhibition runs until the 18th of July in the Chester Beatty.

rights in action

Dolphin RightsInAction

We have previously worked with the active and innovative community of Dolphin House flats in Rialto Dublin who are seeking quality regeneration. Having been unable to get catastrophic levels of damp and sewerage problems sorted for decades, the local community development group in conjunction with Community Action Network, came up with the concept of holding a Human Rights Hearing with international law experts. PCC developed the branding, communications strategy and handled all the media and PR. The event was caried extensively on national news / current affairs on TV, radio and all the broadsheet and tabloid dailies.

Nearly three-quarters of residents surveyed are living with damp, 64% report mould and a staggering 84% have sewerage coming up through their sinks and baths. Over 91% say that their health is affected, with children the most vulnerable victims to asthma and other bronchial problems. Evidence before the Hearing decribed tests carried out by NUI Maynooth’s Biology Department that backed up the lived experiences. Their report states that the fungal contamination was “far greater” than that ever recorded in domestic dwellings” and “is a significant threat to the health of the occupants.” It said that prolonged exposure to the conditions could prove fatal for people with pre-existing lung disorders.

Our Lady's Hospice & Care Services.

PCC is very proud to have worked with Our Lady's Hospice developing their new name and visual identity which has just been unveiled. The process involved a deep consultation phase with all stakeholders in the care facility and a strategic creative programme with its leadership, communications department, Board and Chief Executive. The new identity changes the name to Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services and encompasses the two locations under its management – Harold’s Cross and Blackrock and it also utilises the byline, ‘Respite, Rehabilitation and Reassurance’, reflecting the three speciality services provided:

• Palliative/end of life care
• Gerontology/care of older people
• Rheumatology/ rehabilitation

Branding and rebranding an organisation is an involved and demanding task. Rebranding a Hospice and Care facility brings with it histories and challenges that are unique highly sensitive and crucial. Our positive working relationship with the team, our strong credentials in branding and our developing understanding of their work helped to make the process a fruitful and rewarding one for all. www.olh.ie

We are also delighted to have been commissioned to edit, subedit, art direct and design Our Lady’s Hospice and Care Services Annual Report 2009.

youngballymun
youngballymun is one of the most exciting and impactful organisations we work for. Driving an integrated and measurable change programme for local children, young people and families in Ballymun, the project has designed and is making operational, six quality services that cover the critical milestones in a child's and young person's life. Funded by Atlantic Philanthropies and the Office of the Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, the programme uses tried and trusted models from Ireland and around the world and rigorously tests and fine-tunes how it operates in order to deliver for children and families.

Since winning two tenders three years ago, we have been retained as youngballymun’s communications agency. Over that time the relationship has grown and deepened and so has the workload. We now assist youngballymun’s key senior leadership and its various services with on-going strategic communications advice; PR/public affairs/media work; publishing of event documents; videoing and editing of conferences and masterclasses; writing, design and print of service materials; design and fit-out of public premises for the services.

Among the images below see a selection of naming/identities we've developed for the services, Professor Tim Shanahan's presentation 'Breakthrough Thinking on Literacy Learning' and some material from youngballymun's Annual Conference 'A Child is Born'. Download a pdf of Tim Shanahan's presentation here.

Ombudsman for Children - Separated Children Project

Separated children are children who have had to leave their home countries and families because of danger, discrimination, intimdation, poverty or fear. For some, trafficking, racism, discrimination and poverty are part of their everyday lives here in Ireland. Add to that lonliness, the trauma of separation from their parents and loved ones, depression and the physical and psychological damage they have endured. They are in the asylum system here in Ireland and are in the care of the HSE.

The Ombudsman for Children’s Office decided to take on this under-the-radar issue in their programme of work. Before Christmas they launched the outcomes of that amazing piece of work which involved 35 extraordinary separated children from many different countries. The OCO invited PCC, from a very early point in the project, to become involved in a very deep way in brainstorming the possible elements; in engaging with some of the children who participated, and; in producing the key tools and materials.

There are four principal outputs from the initiative which we helped produce – a guidebook compiled by the young people, a story book setting out their stories, a project report to the Oireachtas and an audio DVD of excerpts from their moving stories.

The OCO is a wonderful, visionary and effective organisation to work with and we’re always very excited and committed to the wonderful and important projects we get to assist with.

StartStrong is committed to advancing high quality care and education as a right for all young children in Ireland. Thier advocacy is built on clear evidence of the benefits this brings for children, for the economy and for society.

Start Strong works to promote informed policy development and increased investment in young children. They support their advocacy with new research and the analysis of good practice. In particular, we are working to encourage the development of a 10-year national plan to bring early care and education in Ireland up to the highest international standards by 2020.

Start Strong was originally founded in 2004 as the Irish Childcare Policy Network (ICPN), a coalition of organisations and individuals interested in progressing childcare and early learning policies in Ireland.

We completed this rebranding exercise for the Irish Childcare Policy Network in December 2009

Impact
We are delighted to be working on a second project for IMPACT this year. From October to November we will be rolling out a major advertising campaign that targets both the general public and the union membership with a number of key messages on transforming the public sector and challenging the government's current policy. We undertook a number of campaign tasks for IMPACT including message research and development, national opinion polling and media planning and buying. We also developed a series of viral videos to support the campaign. You can watch the first two below. For more information go to impact.ie

NCBI Fundraising
It's our first time working with NCBI and it has been a very rewarding experience. This initial project saw us developing and producing a fundraising direct marketing pack. This involved working closely with their senior leadership in strategising, researching, branding, writing and designing the pack.

Dolphin Decides was a truly unique and exciting project. PCC won the tender to assist the community of Dolphin House, the largest inner city flat complex on Dublin's southside, to define and present their informed vision around their own regeneration. PCC partnered up with Community Action Network and the task involved best-practice community consultation, strategic communications and the drafting, editing, design and print of a suite of key communications tools including branding, newsletters, flyers, point of display and publications.

Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross and Blackrock
In July we produced an Annual Report for Our Lady's Hospice, Harold's Cross and Blackrock. The client was anxious that the content and tone of the Annual Report would take a significant step forward. They wanted it to reflect the positive and complex ethos and values of their multi-layered work while also being respectful and empathetic with the residents of the hospice. PCC is very proud of our work with this fantastic organisation assisting with the content, editing and the overall design and photography.

We recently completed a new visual identity for GLEN, the Gay and Lesbian Equality network. We've also produced a range of communications tools and publications. We're also delighted to be advising them strategically. Their new website which we designed with our partner ThinkTwo will also be
launching shortly.

The Children's Medical & Research Foundation
Our latest donor development appeal for CMRF has just been launched and will run for the next 4/6 weeks. It is designed to raise funds for their new A&E department which will significantly improve services and reduce waiting times. The new building is already half way there and the appeal is aiming to raise the final money needed to complete and equip it.
